Alan Dix – Director


Alan Dix is founder and Director of 509 Arts. He has worked as a theatre director, producer and cultural consultant for over 30 years and prior to 509 Arts, was Associate Director at Major Road Theatre Company.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s he created many memorable touring theatre and site-specific events across the UK and abroad. Alan directed 509 Arts’ 2011-2012 production of My Last Car and is working on a number of new projects for 2014 – 2017.


Mike Kenny – Writer 

Mike Kenny is one of England’s most prolific writers and was included in the Independent on Sunday’s list of Top Ten Living Playwrights. His plays are performed regularly throughout the UK and all over the world. His adaptation of the Railway Children for York Theatre Royal, in association with the National Railway Museum played for two sell-out seasons in York before opening at Waterloo Station, London, where it won an Olivier Award for Best entertainment.

Jenny Harris – Producer

Jenny brings over 10 years experience working in arts and festival settings as a creative producer, including FuseLeeds, Interrogate (Dartington), Morley Literature FestivalPhrased & Confused and Imove – Yorkshire’s multi-million pound programme of new work in response to the 2012 Olympic Games.


Steve Gumbley & Bryan Tweddle – Designers & Makers


Bryan and Steve have a long history of design and making of innovative performance pieces in unusual places and spaces. They have worked for Welfare State International, IOU Theatre, Whalley Range All Stars, Royal Festival Hall, Streets of Manchester, ENO, Luxembourg Children’s Workshop, Avanti Display and many more. They were the design and build team for My Last Car.
